a look into my apartment bedroom

Here is an overview of my apartment bedroom!

Photo #1/#2: This is my bed and closet. My bedding is from Wal-Mart. I purchased it last year, so it may not be in stores anymore. It came with pillow shams, a comforter, and sheets. I believe it was around $35. You can see my closet which is pretty spacious. Above my closet is my monogram craft that I detailed how to make on my blog a few weeks ago! My mini photo gallery is my favorite part about my bed area! These are Dollar Store frames and calendar photos that I put into the frames. I used command strips to keep them up on the wall.

Photo #3: This is my front window display and side table. I made these amazing flower holding bottles a few months ago. All I did was collect Tazo tea bottles from Starbucks (which was very easy to do considering my tea obsession!) and paint the inside with white acrylic paint. Fill each bottle with a fun flower arrangement and you have the perfect window sill display. A girl at my school was giving away her furniture and I acquired this side table from her. I stack my old magazines on it and it is also where my alarm clock sits.

Photo #4: Here is my display above my desk. My desk is still a work in progress so I will hopefully do a post about it soon! From left to right is: a Paris picture I drew, my 'London Calling' Bath & Body Works Candle, a tea pot I painted at my school paint-a-pot, a Dollar Store circle plate with more candles and a shiny 'A' letter, another craft I made with a lady in a sparkle dress, and 'Turquoise Waters' candle from B&B Works.

Photo #5: This is my closet view. Inside is a three tie drawer from Wal-Mart, a shoe bin, and my clothing hanging up. I use soft hangers from TJ Maxx to hang up the clothes that may slip off regular white hangers.

Photo #6: This is the view from my bed into my bathroom. My pink rug is from Kate Spade but it was purchased at Marshall's! My mirror is on sale now over at Jo-Ann's for $7.00. My blue hanging organizer is from Big Lots but it is recycled from my freshman year in the dorms so its most likely not found in stores any longer.

If you are in the process of rearranging your room, moving into a new place, or just want to look at some ideas for decorating I have some options from Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, & the Container Store below!

American Eagle top (similar), Forever 21 denim shorts, Flojos, Boutique necklace

It is hot in Florida, there is no question about it! Sometimes all I want to do is put on my favorite denim cut offs and find a colorful shirt like the one pictured above in this recent outfit of mine. I walk around campus for 5-9 hours so I need to wear something that can last all day! Shorts are my go-to staple piece. Forever 21 makes some stretchy inexpensive ($7.80) ones that I stock up on during the summer. American Eagle is currently having a great sale! You can purchase clearance items for an additional 50% off with another 25% off and FREE shipping! (Kudos to my roommate for being so in-the-know!)

Outfit Total: $35.30
Shorts: $7.80
Shoes: $10.00
Necklace: $10.00

first day of school outfit

Going back to school can be a time that mixes joy and sadness. As the humidity reaches its highest points and the back-to-school sales fill department stores, you can feel the end of summer slowly sinking in.The end of summer marks the completion of one chapter and the beginning of a new one for students everywhere. I love summer vacation because I can work by the beach, shop around, drive! (i don't have a car on campus), see my friends, and be with my family. Although college is am amazing experience, I never take hanging out with my hometown friends and family for granted because I only see them during the summer!

This all being said, my outfit for the first day of my junior year of college reflects my obsession with the color of blue and the ease of a cute romper. This one is from Forever 21 and was $14.80. My shoes are also a new obsession! I love the Jack Rogers brand, but I never purchased anything until a few days ago. The sandals are on the feet of a large majority of females right now and I kinda just went ahead and found some that I liked! Instead of the flat sandal that is wood, I purchased a pair of the jelly style. They are so comfy which is something I was afraid of because I know you have to break in these shoes a bit. After nine hours of classes, they didn't bother me! They are in the color Platinum. I also have on a ton of my favorite Alex & Ani bracelets.

I hope you have a great back-to-school week if you are heading back to campus!

American Eagle top (old, Check out clearance in store), New York & Company shorts, H&M necklace, Lindsay Phillips shoes

I love American Eagle for a quick pick up of cute tank tops. They usually go on sale for 60% at the end of the Spring season, so I purchased quite a few! This one is a fun tropical print that has a variety of colors to match with. I chose to match the yellow in the top and pair it with some bright shorts. This shirt how the perfect neckline for a large statement piece, so I added my silver H&M necklace.
This outfit was worn out to dinner, and although the shorts and tank top seem casual, the kitten heeled shoes make you feel more dressed up. I loved my summer vacation and I will miss wearing fun outfits like this one but if you have noticed, I am excited for Fall! I will still be living where it is hot outside until October when I am in school, so hopefully I can wear all of my favorite shorts & tank top combinations before it gets cooler.

Thanks so much for reading! How are you celebrating the end of summer?

purple and pink look

Here is my last look from my hometown before I moved back to school for the Fall semester. My summer went by so fast, and I am so grateful for all of the amazing events that happened and memories made. It's crazy to think about starting my Junior year of college. I still feel like a freshman sometimes, but I know my way around school now so I love that I won't get lost anymore! This look was very matching--purple and pink all the way. My shorts were from J.Crew Factory and I believe they were on sale for $20. Remember to use your student ID to receive a 15% discount at J.Crew (including clearance)! If you have a student ID, check this list from my Pinterest page for more information. I love the J.Crew look, and if you do too make sure to read my post about how to shop at the store.

Thanks for reading! I am moving back into my college apartment so I will try to update as soon as things are back in order.

pumpkin spice lattes, anyone?

Source: Pinterest

Fall is my favorite. Autumn leaves. No humidity. Fleece. Boots. Vests. I am obsessed with anything pumpkin flavored and I can drink my chai lattes hot again. These are a few  inspirational looks that I will be channeling once I can finally break in my new denim jeans and leggings. They come directly from my Pinterest, where I spend a lot of my downtime pinning quotes, fashion, recipes, and other random things! My fall wardrobe must-haves include some of these items:

You know those striped shirts you bought for the summer? Well throw on an over-sized sweater and incorporate it into your fall looks. In the first photo, you can see how comfy she looks! The stripes go perfectly with any outfit and especially with a larger, boxy sweater.

Plaid is an essential fall pattern. In this look, the model is mixing prints. I think this trend is super fun and a great way to use the most out of clothes you already own! You don't have to buy something to match--you can just put the two together.

So if you are the type of girl who likes to resemble a walking J Crew ad (like myself) when the fall time comes, you know about the importance of wearing vests! I can not afford spending a lot on vests simply because I love a good bargain, so a lot of mine come from Old Navy or Forever 21. I actually found some at JC Penny under the Joe Fresh line that I love! Now they are on sale for $14.99

Whether its an over-sized watch (I love this tiger eye one!), bangles, or a necklace- statement pieces are a trend that continue to seep into stores everywhere. I love a good shiny accessory. From gold, to rose gold, to silver, the way a necklace or bracelet can add some extra glamour into a look is a fashion forward approach to creating the perfect outfit.

Are you looking forward to the cooler weather? Let me know what your favorite season is in the comments down below! Thanks so much for reading.

turquoise sunday #ootd

Boutique top (similar on Pinterest), Revlon Matte Lipstick: 'Elusive', H&M skirt (similar), H&M bag, Flojos

Today I went on a little excursion to Tampa! The outfit I chose mixes my favorite summer color (which is actually white right now) with a pop of turquoise. This H&M envelope skirt was purchased a while back and I paid $24.99 for it. It took some serious convincing to allow myself to understand that this skort was the best deal possible. I had such poor luck finding this style a few months ago, I decided to pay full price for it when I saw this one in stock. When compared to other envelope skorts, this H&M style was a bargain because a lot of them can retail for at least $30. My turquoise blouse is a boutique top that I purchased at my local Plato's Closet. The lipstick I am wearing is my favorite Revlon matte lip balm. It is so creamy and glides on so well! This color is a mix of purple and pink that looks similar to the Kylie Jenner lip look.

I go back to school at the end of the week (ah! summer where have you gone?) and I am looking forward to fall--pumpkin spice EVERYTHING, flannels, plaids, leggings, military jackets, brown boots. I am just a little excited right now. Fall is my favorite season! I professed my love for this season in my post about myself earlier in the month. But until then, I will be wearing the heck out of my denim shorts, bathing suits, and tank tops!

friday favorites

fri faves 1

These are my Friday Favorites. This past week, I have especially loved these five products pictured above. They are being featured because I have used them throughout this week more than once!

1. Stash Pomegranate Raspberry Tea
I have a tea obsession. So much so that I think I might dedicate an entire post to talk about tea! I went to the Fresh Market this past week and picked this tea up. It has great flavor and lasts even when you refill your cup. I am a big fan of fruity flavors and the raspberry in this product is very sweet and a great summertime tea if you make it iced. This brand sells at Amazon and in grocery stores and it gives you 18 tea bags.

2. L'Oreal Brow Stylist: 'Lighter Blonde'
This is one of my go-to brow pencils. I find it tricky to pick up a decent eye brow pencil that is inexpensive and matches my coloring. I have pale skin, but I also have this cool undertone that makes looking for makeup products a long process. This product comes in two shades and I prefer using the lighter brown pencil. The pencil is easy to sharpen, and is great because it comes with a sharpener! The color matches my eyebrows very nicely and the product stays on all day.

3. Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitizer: 'Caribbean Escape'
I love washing my hands. That's such a weird thing to say, but I think it is so important to have clean hands and be germ free! That being said I am obsessed with hand sanitizers. The ones from bath & body works are so affordable and have so many great smells! For the summer they always release fun new ones and my personal favorite is this Caribbean Escape. It is a strong coconut that reminds me of summertime. The 5 for $5.00 deal is the best deal because you get so many for only $1.00 each when they retail for $1.75 each!

4. Forever 21 Headbands
I think of Blair Waldorf whenever I see someone wearing a headband! Not only do they keep your hair back but they look fashionable, too. These were just too much of a bargain not to get. I love the colors and the stretch ability these specific headbands have. At $2.80, you get three different styles which is such a great deal. These add some shine to your hair and make the summer heat more bearable.

5. Roasted Cashews
For my food favorite this week, I am loving cashews. They make a great afternoon snack for the times when I want to eat chips but want a healthy alternative. Cashews are an excellent source of Vitamin E (thank you nutrition class) and fill you up very quickly.

~Thanks for reading! Have a fantastic Friday & Weekend ahead!~

Old Navy Tank top, thrifted skirt, Bealls earrings, Hammered gold necklace (similar), H&M bag, Ann Klein watch, Blue sunglasses

This is my #OOTN when I went out to eat with my sister. We went to eat Thai food which is my latest obsession! My favorite item to order is the chicken with peanut sauce and broccoli. I wanted to dress up because I was in the mood to style my thrifted skirt. I bought this skirt while on vacation in New York back in June. I think it was about $6.00. My tank top is a classic Old Navy knit tank that retails for $8.50, but is on sale for $6.00. My earrings were a crazy $1.20 from a fabulous Florida based store called Bealls Outlet. I can always count on that store for some great deals on jewelry and active wear. My bag has been mentioned in previous posts because it has become a favorite of mine. It can only fit so much, so I usually just keep my phone, lip gloss, and sunglasses inside. It has been a challenge to keep a limited amount of things in a bag, but I'm getting the hang of it! My hair look for this outfit is inspired by one of my favorite beauty bloggers, Zoella. She pulls off this look so well, I only hope I can get my hair to look a bit like hers. It is such a great way to keep your hair out of your face, and is a fun style to try.

d.i.y. series #3: citrus fruit canvas art

Here is project number #3 in my D.I.Y. series! This turned out amazingly well considering I had to direction to use...I just kind of did my own thing and the citrus fruit canvas was a success! I've seen this citrus idea on my Pinterest feed a few times, but I never had a lemon, canvas, and acrylic paints at the ready until my crazy week of art projects. This is really easy and hopefully my directions are helpful so you can make your own citrus artwork. The canvas is a great size for dorm room art and apartment decorating--and can fit inside a picture frame if you buy an 8x10. It is very affordable, too! The fruits cost a few dollars, the canvas is on sale at Jo Ann's for $2.99, paint brushes are $0.99 and the acrylic paints are usually around 60 cents to $1.29 each.

Materials Needed:
white canvas 8x10(Michaels or JoAnn's), lemons (or limes, oranges, grapefruit for different sizes), acrylic paints, paint brush

1. Paint three coats of the background color. Let dry for 10 mins.
2. Cut your fruits in half.
3. Lightly paint one coat of the first color onto a fruit half.
4. Sponge the fruit half onto the canvas. Repeat on the canvas on a few different areas.
5. Take a different color and paint the other half of the fruit.
6. Repeat the sponge technique on the canvas.

Note: I left the juice inside of the fruit, which allowed a very small amount of the lemon to stick to the canvas. I was able to pull it out of the canvas and it did not ruin the artwork. If you want, I suggest cutting out the insides of the fruit prior to sponging them onto the canvas for another take on the citrus stamping.

Leave me any comments below! Happy crafting & as always thanks for reading.
