turquoise & white

Turquoise Top // Dillards shorts (old, similar $12 ) //
Statement necklace ($21 option// Kate Spade Crossbody

The weather has calmed down for me to take more outfit pictures! This one is a daytime look with pops of light green. These shorts were on sale at Dillards during the summer and I liked how they were more elegant than other shorts I own. They are also high-waisted and a thick fabric. My Kate Spade crossbody always come in handy when I have a few things to carry... (which isn't very often, sadly!) but I can fit my wallet and phone perfectly. The colors in my statement necklace match the entire outfit which made me happy. I like how even though this outfit is just pairing a top with some shorts it looks effortlessly chic! Also, my nails are a gorgeous grey/blue shade called Find Me an Oasis.

flowy bohemian

American Eagle Dress (similar & on sale!) // Cowboy Boots

I bought this American Eagle dress on sale for only $15! It comes in a variety of prints and colors, but I settled on this grey one. I love the flowy layers on it and the spring paisley print. I paired it with my favorite cowboy boots (on sale for only $27!) to complete this look. Mine are from JCPenny's but these are an amazing affordable option! I also wore my floral headband, some white dangly earrings, and a low bun to create a focus away from my hair and on the dress. I love how casual yet put together this outfit looks! This dress is a great new spring buy. What is in your spring wardrobe?

purple dress & fringe bag

This look is perfect for Sunday brunches, graduation parties, and even casual daytime events! I love the purple tone of this dress...I haven't been able to wear new pastel colors in a while so I was super excited to try this one out! I love the loose fabric it has and even in the hot summer temperatures it would be a great option. My fringe bag is super fun and new for me. There are so many pockets inside which I love to store the contents of my life in. My shoes are Jack Rogers and they are on sale right now so you can pick some up for only $36 instead of $70!

how to run a blog while attending school

While a lot of super popular bloggers make their living posting new content every day, a lot of people are just starting out and are also attending school. Whether it's middle school, high school, college, graduate school, and beyond, the balancing act that people like myself face is sometimes difficult to manage. I wanted to dedicate a post to providing some helpful insight into how I manage to run a blog while I attend a four year university! I am just basing my tips off of what has worked best for me and how I have learned to balance these two areas (academia and the Internet) of my life. I hope my advice helps you in some way! Please let me know some your tips in the comments below.

1. Plan outfits ahead of time!
What has been working best for me is planning outfits out the night before I want to shoot them. I go on Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr, and finally my closet to gather a final idea with different pieces to wear the next day. This helps the getting ready process go by much more effectively! I also like to shoot in the morning or during the "golden hour" when the sun is just about to set at night! This way I look my freshest (I walk around campus from 12-7 in the Florida weather so when I get home I am not looking my best!) and can take my time taking multiple photos.

2. Write during your downtime and schedule posts!
If I know I'm going to have a super hectic week, I tend to use my weekends as times to create new content to post throughout the week! This is a time where I am not in a rush to post by 12 a.m. and have a new post immediately uploaded. I am able to make better content this way, too! Sometimes I have an entire week's worth of content scheduled so I can concentrate on schoolwork.

3. Put schoolwork ahead of blogging!
I am guilty of blogging instead of completing homework assignments....it just happens! Yes, blogging is way more entertaining than learning new logarithms but I just have to tell myself that I am lucky to be in school and my focus should always been 1.School 2.Blogging.

4. Buy a tripod!
This is going to be your new best friend. Although asking your friends to help you out is honestly such a helpful thing, investing in a tripod has its perks! You can take photos whenever you want/can and get your content up faster. This is my tripod and is it so worth the $30.

5. Keep posting!
Being consistent will really build your audience and make people return to your blog. On some days you might only have a dozen page views while another day you have hundreds or thousands! Although it may be discouraging at first, keep posting what you love and people will flock to read what you have to say if you are passionate about it!

6. Find a cool place to write on campus!
I have a few places on campus that I have designated as my "writing areas". These are places that I can be by myself and not be bothered when I need to compose new content. I am able to think, construct, and execute great posts because I am focused on my blog. I tend to spend a few hours in between classes in these places.

7. Spread the word about your blog!
Part of any campus organizations?! Tell people about your blog! Get your blog noticed! Especially if you are a part of say, a fashion magazine and you run a blog with edgy fashion photos. Include your blog in a school project somehow! This will attract new readers and most likely the type of audience you want to engage with on a regular basis.

8. Include your friends!
Sometimes it does get lonely with me and my tripod...and you will probably have some moments where you think you look weird taking photos of yourself, but just learn to own it! What my friends and I like to do is make a day of taking photos by visiting new areas of town! Some of my best photos are from downtown Tallahassee where it was so much fun changing into a few different looks and spending time with my friends, too! They will love the idea and hey, maybe treat them to dessert or Starbucks after! You'll not only have photos for your blog but some awesome memories to share.

9. Go about your daily life and capture real life moments!
Nothing is more authentic than documenting events that actually happened. This may seem odd to mention, but I personally enjoy seeing people's Instagram pics of their daily lives in comparison to some altered version of reality where everything looks posed. Going to brunch with friends? Take some group shots! Walking to class and see some beautiful flowers? Tweet that! Readers will appreciate this authenticity, too.

10. Keep your priorities straight!
Do you need those beautiful Kendra Scott earrings (yes, they are gorgeous) or do you need money for groceries!? Remember to eat! Study! Think of blogging as a hobby, and a reward after you've been productive at school. It works for me!

And, finally, have a mantra. I love this quote from Legally Blonde that really keeps me motivated to continue staying true to what I believe in. It's because...

black & white daytime look

Cotton On Tank (similar) // Cynthia Rowley Shorts (aztec ones)
 NY&Company Necklace (similar, similar)
Kate Spade Crossbody Bag // Rimmel London Nail Polish

I love wearing black and white and this look embodies that perfectly! The shorts I have on are Cynthia Rowley (from Macy's) and I bought them at a resale shop called Plato's Closet for about $7. My black tank is from Cotton On, which I bought for only $5 during a summer clearance sale. This necklace (last seen here!) is a cool grey and white combo that is a nice statement piece. My bag is also a great deal, from the Kate Spade outlet mall for only $70 marked down from $145! I love the bright pop of turquoise it brings to this look.

Thayer's Witch Hazel //
Wet Brush //
Vera Bradley Tech Wrislet //
Kendra Scott Pery Drusy Necklace //

1. Thayer's Witch Hazel.....My skin has never felt more refreshed than after one use of this Rose Petal Witch Hazel toner! My lovely roommates got me hooked. The rose smell is soothing and doesn't bother my nose like other harsh products. It has Vitamin E, aloe, and witch hazel to tighten pores. This is a great natural alternative to toners with alcohol in them. It's great for oily skin! After washing my face with my Boscia sponge, I apply this toner with a cotton pad all over my face twice a day. It leaves my skin feeling soft, smoother, and cleansed. It is around $7-9.

2. Wet Brush....I have been using a wet brush for a few years now! It is the only brush I trust with my crazy, unruly, curly hair. They do not rip out your hair like standard brushes do! It detangles gently and makes my hair feel soft. I have a few of these in my apartment right now.

3. Vera Bradley Tech Wristlet.....it's hilarious how many different  items I own in various Vera Bradley prints. This cute paisley colored wrislet is a college girl's best friend. It holds my phone, credit cards/ID, money, change, and keys! For the Spring semester this has been my favorite way to carry around all my personal items in a compact way.

4. Kendra Scott Perry Drusy Necklace.....this necklace just arrived in my latest Rocksbox and it is already a favorite! I put this on my #wishlist and my stylist sent it to me almost immediately. Kendra Scott jewelry is all the rage right now and this gorgeous dainty rose gold pendant piece is beautiful. Make sure to sign up for free using my rep code, affordablebyamandaxoxo at check out! a spring american eagle look

American Eagle Sweater // American Eagle Jeans (on sale!, similar for $16)

It was slightly chilly out today so this is what I wore! My American Eagle clothes are always in great quality and last a long time. This sweater is from a while back and is made out of the fluffiest material. The high rise jeggings I have on are great to achieve a trendy look--these types of jeans are everywhere! I love how mine were less than $50 and are on sale now! I can wear them all day (such as now...during finals!) without a problem. I usually don't wear jeans but these are loose and are jeggings so they are that much more comfortable. My large bag is from NY&Company. I love the tassels! vacation pictures: welcome to cozumel

American Eagle Tank (old, similar $18 option) // Lilly Pulitzer Shorts (found mine at a resale shop!) Tory Burch Flats // LOFT Sunglasses (similar for $24!) //

Cozumel was beautiful. We spent the whole day exploring the city. This was my first time to Mexico and thankfully it wasn't too hot! There were tons of little iguanas everywhere and a lot of locals greeting me throughout the day. We went to a beach resort and swam for a bit and they had free Wi-Fi (score!). We also traveled to part of the Mayan ruins which was very educational and something I am glad we experienced. I am so happy that I got to visit for the day!

Love this similar Forever 21 bikini for $7!

vacation pictures: casual dinner look

H&M Crochet Dress // Statement Necklace (similar) //

Every night we ate dinner in one of the formal dining rooms. This is one of my favorite outfits that I wore! It is a simple white crochet dress from H&M that I bought last summer for only $10. I paired it with an orange triangle statement necklace from a boutique shop and some dangle pearl earrings. I also painted my nails with this white polish just in time for our vacation so it really made the look feel more tropical. Before dinner every night we went out onto my favorite deck (where the buffet was...) and took some great pictures to show what I wore! You can also see some more on my Instagram page.

vacation pictures part 1: the grand caymans

After two days of sailing, we went to our first stop at the Grand Cayman We booked an excursion through our cruise line to visit the famous Stingray City. Although the water was breathtaking and extremely clear, I was still hesitant to swim with the rays! Eventually the crew convinced me that the rays were used to being handled and they referred to them as being "gentle like puppies". I finally got into the water and was excited to see tons of rays all around me!

Fresh Coconut from the side of the road in Georgetown, Cayman Islands.

This is the outfit I changed into after swimming. My top is from Aeropostale (on sale for $10!), my pants are from a beach shop (love these similar ones below!) and so is my hat! My lipstick is a great matte nude from Wet n Wild called Think Pink. The Grand Caymans were gorgeous! We ate crepes and delicious sandwiches at a local restaurant called the Cayman Creperie. After another hour of shopping, we quickly loaded back onto the boat. Check out tomorrow's post about one of my favorite dinner outfits!
