monday makeup finds

Hello friends! Welcome to the start of a new week. Should I mention anything about the #VMAS from last night? How about #KanyeForPresident, Miley's crazy outfit changes, and the return of Taylor Swift's squad? I definitely suggest you watch it to see all the hype! Anyway, I have gathered a few new beauty items that I wanted to share with you today. These have been some of my newest and most loved makeup finds!

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara I was looking for a new drugstore waterproof mascara and I found this one on sale at Walgreen for less than $3! I was happily impressed by the mascara's ability to last throughout the school day and I liked the length it gave my lashes. I did not need to re-apply it at all and it was overall a great buy.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Even though I just got this as a part of the Sephora reward system, {I used 100 points to redeem it!} I already love this product. I was surprised when I saw that it was a tinted color instead of a gel-like consistency but I still tried it out the other day. The results I found were great! The product smoothed over my pores and made my makeup look more flawlessly covered. It also made my face look more matte, which is great for oily skin types.

Maybelline Brow Define + Fill For some reason I seriously love using Maybelline brow tools! I have used this one before and also this one, so I wasn't too afraid to try out this new brow pencil. The pencil is very thin which I think works out well for me because my eyebrows are not too thick. One tip: don't over do it! Start this product out with light strokes so you don't end up with extremely drawn out brows. The smudgy side of the pencil is fabulous for creating a more unified look to your brows. Maybelline has done it right yet again!

NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien When you sign up for the Sephora reward system, you enter your birthday which enables you to get free things during your birthday month! It's honestly one of my favorite things to do during February, and I try to get to Sephora on the very first day of the month. During the past year, they were giving out NARS lipsticks! I had never tried this line before and I was thrilled to receive two lip products. This one I love in particular because of it's creamy {or how they describe it as 'satin'} texture. The color is a dark rosy pink which goes well with my light skin tone and reddish hair color!

Thanks so much for reading today's makeup finds! I hope you have a wonderful week ahead. I am trying to create some sort of posting schedule to make my life have more of a routine, so I know what days I should be uploading content! I'll keep you updated, but for now make sure to follow me on the social media platforms below.

college apartment decor: part 1

For my senior year, I wanted to decorate my apartment with more fun, artistic, and inspiration items. I moved into a new place and felt like I needed to take advantage of this new beginning {and ending!}. My colors were only grey, silver and black at first but I found an amazing colorful new comforter set that is turquoise green so that is my pop of color! I hope you enjoy these pictures and as soon as I clean my room again I will update you with more.

Glass Votive // Instax Mini 8 Polaroid Camera $65 // old Silver + White Vase

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful Art // Handmade Frame Artwork

Dollar Store Frame // My Own Instagram Picture!

Similar Pillows Below

My bedroom inspiration comes from a few different loves of mine. On my shelf I have my Instax Mini 8 {on sale from $100 to $65!} which I use to take cool Polaroid pictures on, a collage of pictures that I used silver glitter tape to hang, {more on that in another post!} and an old vase with fake white flowers.

Black and white pictures cover my gallery wall because they are a way to be decorative without adding too much overwhelming color to the room. I used a picture of Paris that I received as a present from my friend Lina, an artwork of New York City, an Audrey Hepburn photo, a "Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful" canvas art, a quote from Pinterest in a dollar store frame, and a photo I printed off the internet and added glitter to.

In the living room my roommate and I wanted to create a beach oasis. She put together our beach gallery wall and arranged it to look amazing! She found the two beach canvas artworks from Kohl's on sale for $4 each! On one of our side tables I printed out my beach Instagram pic and framed it. The pillows on our couch are from various places and I found a ton of super cute and cheap options like this one for $9!

school spirit

Gold Florida Pendant Necklace // Forever 21 Bar Necklace

When I first saw the color of this tank top, I knew I had to get it. The garnet screamed FSU! I am purchasing a ton of high-neck tanks lately, and this is one of them. They make the best options for layering cute necklaces {such as this gold Florida state one and this gold bar necklace}. The sale section of Aeropostale is somewhere I drift to when I am just about to leave the mall and I am so glad I popped into mine the other day. I picked up two pairs of denim shorts at $8.99 each, denim jeans on sale for $9.99, and two racer-back style tanks at $5 each. Who knew I'd go back to my favorite middle school retailer at the tail end of my college days!? My bracelets are also some of my favorite Alex & Ani picks. My FSU Alex & Ani is something I love wearing during the school year! I hope you love this look as a take on a casual school spirit inspired outfit.

lookalike rebecca minkoff mini 5 zip

Happy Monday everyone! Today is the first day of school for me and I wanted to post about one of my last summer looks. This adorable blue knot dress is from Forever 21 {I can't find it online anymore, but I have a few options below!} and it was on sale for $12.90. My favorite part about this look though is the bag I found at Forever 21. I found a super comparable dupe to the Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5 Zip Crossbody. Mine was only $22.90! I  might even consider buying it in another color, like the black or coral. Stay tuned for some more back-to-school posts featuring new outfits!

tribal maxi skirt

Denim Tie-Front Top {similar Forever 21 find} // Tribal Maxi Skirt {similar $8}

Long time no outfit post! It's been a few days since my last post and I want to apologize for it--I have been experiencing random laptop shutoffs. They have made my laptop usage extremely annoying to deal with! I am currently in the market for a new one so any suggestions under $500 would be wonderful! Onto this look: I wore my {sister's!} tribal maxi skirt and denim tie-front top for dinner at a delicious local Cuban restaurant. Sometimes borrowing other people's clothes can spark a new outfit idea for yourself! My sister's style is very bohemian, simplistic, and basically straight out of American Eagle, her favorite store. I loved this look because it was summer appropriate and the print made me feel like I was on vacation! For those of you getting ready to go back to school, I have some ideas in mind for upcoming posts about what bags to bring for class, and easy everyday makeup looks!

I got a ton of compliments on this top--I absolutely love the neckline and the pops of color it adds to my simple look of the day. updated lush favorites

lush favorites

Natural and helpful beauty products are very important to me because of my skin and hair problems. If you haven't followed along with my beauty product posts just yet {click on the tab at the top of the webpage!}, I'll fill you in! I have an oily combination skin-type which means I have oily and dry skin that is acne-prone. I also have naturally curly, thin, and dry hair that I color-treated about a year ago to be blonder. Now I am letting my naturally red tones come back to life, so I am all about hydrating my locks. I will be doing another post about hair care using Lush products, but for today I am focusing on my favorite Lush skincare picks!

Lush is a brand that I just started using products from about a year ago. I still can not believe I used to completely pass by the lush store in my favorite mall! Thanks to social media and basically scrolling on Tumblr, I purchased a few face masks and fell in love with the results they gave my skin!

Face Masks

Mask of Magnaminty is one of my all-time favorite face masks. You can leave this one out of the fridge, but I highly recommend putting it in! The cold minty feeling you get while applying this product to your face is so refreshing. The mask tightens slightly on your face and does a great job
giving your skin a deep clean.

Cosmetic Warrior is a fresh face mask I find works great to tighten pores and clean out my face. The masks has egg whites and honey to smooth skin. Garlic and tea tree help with redness and reduce the soreness that pimples can give your face. Once you get past the smell, you can find yourself reaching for this mask whenever a breakout happens!

Cleansers

Dark Angels is a cleanser I purchased while on vacation in New York. My cousins and I were shopping in Lush and I picked this up on a whim because the product worked as a cleanser and exfoliant. Black sugar and charcoal exfoliate and absorb excess oils and organic avocado oils nourishes skin to make it feels soft and matte. I have been using this cleanser on and off for a month and have loved it! The smell is also not too harsh and this product is great for every day use.

Coalface Charcoal Cleansing Bar  Another product with charcoal in it! Can you tell I am a huge fan? The charcoal in this cleansing bar helps draw out impurities and gives you a seriously smooth and fresh face! I feel like there is nothing on my skin once I am done using this bar. I simply wet the bar and lightly glide it over my skin in the morning before putting on any lotions. This is great for combination skin! It is worth every penny.

Others

Mint Julips if you wear lipstick, you might be like me and most likely have to scrub your lips a ton so they aren't cracked and bumpy. Adding this product to your routine will help immensely! This minty scrub is great for exfoliating your lips and you lip it off when you are done.

Vanishing Cream even if you have oily skin, you still need to moisturize your skin! This cream has witch hazel which is awesome because I use a witch hazel toner already. It is not too greasy and hydrates your skin to balance oiliness.

Have you tried any of these picks? Let me know in the comments! Thanks for reading today's post!

seeing green

This is my first official outfit look with my new Nikon D3200 DSLR! I am so pleased with these pictures and the new quality I am going to have for Affordable by Amanda. I am looking forward to taking many more outfit pictures with this camera. As for my outfit, this look was for a dinner with friends so I kept it simple with a pair of black and green palm printed H&M shorts {only $4!} and a green racerback tank from Old Navy {on sale for under $10!}. I am still obsessed with my Kate Spade satchel I bought for only $100 at the outlet mall! It is so versatile and easy to wear. Happy Friday friends! I am going to be posting about LUSH products soon because I recently spent $50 on some face {like this favorite of mine} and hair products...so there is definitely more to come on that!

my new dslr camera

Major news for the blog today! I just purchased a new camera. The Nikon D3200 is now my pride and joy! I am learning all about the best tips and tricks to use this camera to its full advantage throughout the next few days. I am very pleased with the quality so far {as seen in the pictures above!} and I am excited to test out more features this camera has to offer. I currently have the kit lens which is a AF-S 18-55mm and a Nikkor 35mm macro lens f/1.8G for close up shots. I am going to work on posting a tutorial in the upcoming weeks! As for my outfit, I was running errands and testing out my camera so I have on a black off-the-shoulder top and my new jogger shorts from GAP that are on sale. I also just received a kendra scott piece from Rocksbox! This Elisa pendent is sparkly and delicate which are two things I love in a necklace. The white drusy is just enough shine to add into any day or nighttime look! Have a great Wednesday friends!
