Crystal Obsessions by Laura: Spotlight On St. Pete Artist

Patches the Pig

Each Swarovski piece from Laura's (Obsessions by Laura) collection is unique. Her pieces bring a smile to the faces of everyone who catches sight of these glimmering figurines.

All of the Swarovski crystals are hand embellished by Laura, the artist who imagines all of the elegant figurines you see in this post.

Laura Bentley continues to work hours on end to finish her pieces in time for her upcoming shows this season. She will be attending quite a few local shows in the St. Pete and Tampa area so you can visit her gallery. Be sure to look out for her signature zebra rug!

Laura started out working with her lovely granddaughters making pottery. Eventually, she turned this past time with the girls into her first shoe collection, as each piece was completed with thousands of gorgeous Swarovski crystals!

Her cross collection includes beautifully detailed patterns on each piece. Each tiny stonework takes about four weeks to create. The light catches the stones differently when you display them with a light, too. Laura will paint the piece first before she individually applies each Swarovski stone. Her attention to detail does not go unnoticed! Even in the midst of creating one piece, she sometimes ends up going in a different direction.

This artwork is my favorite. The young woman's face is painted on canvas and then adorned with tiny Swarovski crystals. Her hair consists of longer beads to make up the multiple colors in her golden locks. Her flower crown also has bright greens, oranges, and yellows. This piece would look spectacular hanging up in your home! Laura's work speaks for itself. She loves bling and believes that everyone should share the beauty found within her passion project.
