Recipe: Buddy Brew Iced Chai Tea Latte
Recreating Buddy Brew Iced Chai Tea Latte
When I find myself walking around through Hyde Park Village in South Tampa, I can hardly pass by Buddy Brew without stepping inside and ordering an ice-cold drink.
These hot, hot summer days in Florida are sometimes brutal! Nothing perks me up more than a boost of Buddy Brew caffeine. Some of my favorite drinks to order from Buddy Brew are the iced matcha lattes, iced matcha lemonades, and iced chai tea lattes.
What is a Chai Latte?
In the fall, there is nothing I crave more than a tasty chai latte. Unfortunately, I still have a few more months of iced drinks left until fall takes over! Iced chai tea lattes are still super refreshing and full of antioxidants, too.
The word “chai” also translates to “tea” which basically means us Americans are saying “Tea Tea”. In India, where chai tea originates, the black tea is made from scratch with the finest spices and the popular drink is served with whole milk.
Chai lattes are also made with a varying combination of chai concentrate and steamed milk. Chai has distinctive flavors of cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and other spices. This unique blend of herbs and spices include plenty of heart-healthy antioxidants and can aid in digestion.
What Does Chai Taste Like?
Chai has a sweet and spicy flavor that I absolutely love.
Whenever I need an afternoon drink, I tend to drive over to my closest Starbucks and order an iced chai tea latte. However, I can also make it at home with the 3 ingredient recipe I am sharing with you today! You can easily create your own at-home version of this Buddy Brew and Starbucks classic.
A creamy cup of black tea and almond milk awakens the senses in the morning. I typically start my mornings out with my own cup of chai using this exact recipe.
How to Make the Perfect Iced Chai Tea Latte
- Pour 1 cup of water over 3 bags of chai. I use this brand of chai tea bags for my own creations. You can easily find different brands at the grocery store of your choice.
- Steep the chai tea bags for 10 minutes. Using a tea kettle, pour hot water over the chai tea bags in a small bowl.
- Remove all of the tea bags and stir in 1 tbsp, honey to taste.
- Leave out the mixture or put in the fridge until cool.
- Pour into a large glass with 1 cup of milk (almond milk, oat milk, or whole milk is fine).
